Firefighters from several municipalities joined Camden firefighters battle a raging multi-alarm fire that erupted inside an apartment building at a location in the city Sunday.
Early morning fire tore through a section of the Myrtle Place Apartments located in the 4000 block of Myrtle Avenue around 5 a.m.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found heavy flames through the roof of the building, forcing officials to strike a second, then third alarm for manpower.
Crews stretched multiple lines and then fought the intense fire that extended from the two-story brick structure with eight units.
As of 5:35 a.m., firefighters were still trying to gain the upper hand in fighting the fire, but the flames remained out of control.
No severe injuries were immediately reported, but crews were attempting to make their way into the structure to search for trapped and injured occupants.
UPDATE: Fire placed under control around 6 a.m.
