Middlesex County officials announced Thursday that Elijah Ford has been convicted of attempted murder and weapons offenses by a Middlesex County jury after a five-day trial.
According to Middlesex County authorities, on December 24, 2020, at approximately 9:30 P.M., Carteret Police officers responded to the exterior of a residence at the Hermann Gardens public housing complex in Carteret for a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. A subsequent investigation conducted by Detective Anthony Ramos of the Carteret Police Department, and Detective Margaret Kolta, Detective Daniel Lojek, and Sergeant Julissa Alvarado of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office resulted in Elijah Ford, 20, of Carteret, being charged with the shooting.
Ford was subsequently indicted for first-degree Attempted Murder, second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and second-degree Possession of a Firearm for Unlawful Purposes.
Following the presentation of evidence by Assistant Prosecutors Ryan Farrell and Kaitlyn Maltese, officials said. A jury convicted Ford on April 28, 2022.
Ford is scheduled to be sentenced by the Honorable Benjamin S. Bucca, J.S.C., on September 6, 2022
