Police in Linden are investigating a pedestrian strike that seriously injured a senior man Tuesday evening.
Officials said at approximately 6:40 p.m. this evening, police units responded to the 300 block of South Wood Avenue on reports of an auto-pedestrian motor vehicle crash.
According to Linden Police, preliminary reports indicated that a 2004 Nissan Maxima was traveling north on South Wood Avenue when it struck a 71-year-old Linden man as he crossed the street.
The man was transported to Newark University Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver, a 25-year-old Carteret woman, was not injured in the crash and is cooperating with investigators, according to Linden Police.
