A firefighter was transported to University Hospital in Newark suffering unknown injuries after a house fire ripped through a three-story house in the 200 block of 21st Street shortly before 3:30 a.m.
Crews found heavy fire coming from the upper level of the house upon their arrival. The 2-alarm blaze caused a partial collapse and wires to be knocked to the ground in the area.
The American Red Cross provided temporary shelter to as many as four with about two children included in the number.
It took firefighters under two hours to bring the blaze under control.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
