An investigation is underway into an early morning carjacking that took place in the city's South Ward.
Police responded to the area of Chadwick and Clinton Ave. shortly before 1 a.m. where they began a search for a white 4-door 2014 Nissan with a reported NJ license plate number "P12-FRD" taken at that location.
It is not immediately known if the suspects (who were described as two black males wearing dark colored clothing) were armed with weapons but the victim did suffer minor injuries after being assaulted by the men.
Authorities believes that the men were accompanied by a dark colored vehicle described as a Crown Victoria with emergency lights and tinted windows.
The investigation is being conducted by the Newark Police Department.
