Fire officials in Newark reported no injuries in a fire that erupted inside a dorm on the campus of NJIT Tuesday night.
Firefighters were called to the Cypress Hall located at 180 Bleeker Street to investigate reports of a smoke condition.
Upon arrival, crews noticed the dorm completely evacuated and heavy smoke coming from the building around 7:30 p.m.
Officials reported no flames upon entering the dorm and the cause was a faulty HVAC system.
The investigation is active.
