Police are trying to ascertain the location for a shooting that had a male victim self-transport to a hospital in Newark overnight night.
Shortly before 125 a.m., officials at Univerisity Hospital notified police that a gunshot victim had entered the emergency room.
According to authorities, before the victim arrived at the hospital, police received reports of shots fired near 56 Cypress Street.
When officers arrived, they found multiple shell casings in the South Ward community.
Police have not confirmed if the victim was injured at the shots fired location but have launched an investigation into both incidents.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
