Teachers Injured After Brawl Erupts Inside Newark High School

Newark

Several chaotic physical confrontations that erupted inside a multi-million dollar revitalized high school in Newark’s Central Ward injured two esteemed educators Thursday.

Newark law enforcement officials said just after 10:45 a.m. today, police responded to Newark Vocational High School, located at 301 W. Kinney Street, on a call of an assault in progress.

RLS Media learned that during one of the altercations, two female students and a male student were engaged in a physical confrontation.

Newark Police officials said two female teachers suffered minor injuries while attempting to stop the fight.

One of the educators refused medical attention, but the other teacher was transported to University Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition.

Students anonymously speaking to RLS Media said the school was on heightened alert as several fights broke out in the building and into the afternoon.

“It’s been a very tough year in our school. Small arguments turn into fights more now than ever here at Newark Vocational High School”, a Sophomore student said.

“It’s every day and it's mostly the females. It's becoming unimaginably sad”, the Sophomore student said anonymously.

At the end of the day recess, police were observed moving along small gatherings of students near the intersection of West Kinney and Irvine Turner Boulevard.

Newark Police officials said no arrests have been made.
