Newark Police Seek the Public's Help in Identifying Theft from Auto Suspect

Newark Police request the public's help in identifying a male connected with a theft from an automobile that occurred on Sunday, February 13.

According to police, at approximately 1 a.m., police responded to a residence in the area of Sunset Avenue and South Orange Avenue on a call of a theft from an automobile.

Police officials said that a victim parked the vehicle in the area and returned to find it ransacked with personal property stolen, including a CashApp debit card. 

According to police officials, the card was later used at the Shell Gas Station, located at 972 South Orange Avenue, and at Dunkin' Donuts, 802 South Orange Avenue, by the suspect.

The Detectives investigating this incident obtained surveillance footage showing the suspect using the debit card at each location. 

Newark police seek the public's help quickly identifying this suspect as part of the investigation.

Police officials urge anyone with information on the identity of this suspect to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
