Newark Police are investigating the motive for a shooting incident with a man fighting for his life at a hospital in the city this morning.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office confirmed non-fatal injuries in the violent shooting that occurred in the vicinity of 16th Avenue and 19th Street around 9 p.m.
A gunman approached the 41-year-old victim and repeatedly fired in his direction while he attempted to run from the scene.
Authorities say the victim was rushed to Univerity Hospital, where doctors treated his severe injuries.
The motive behind the shooting has not been determined at this time.
Police reported no arrests.
