Police in Paterson are investigating a shooting that injured a person near a park in the city Wednesday night.
It happened around 10:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Roberto Clemente Park.
Police patrolling the area radioed in to dispatch that they heard multiple rounds of gunfire near the park.
After canvassing the area, police found shell casings and blood evidence on Carroll Street, but no victims were found.
During the investigation, officials at St. Joseph's Hospital notified police that a gunshot victim entered the emergency room suffering non-life threatening bullet wounds.
Police detained a male observed from the shooting scene but stopped short of calling him a suspect at this time.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
