Essex County authorities reported today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting of Mr. Radress S. Wilson, 28, of Newark.
At approximately 3:51 p.m., Newark Police officers responded to Stuyvesant Avenue in Newark on a report of shots fired.
When the officers arrived, they discovered Wilson’s body in a driveway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Residents say Wilson was leaving a house in the area with two individuals when the shooter approached and fired into his head and body multiple times.
Emergency medical personnel responded. Wilson was pronounced dead at 4:19 p.m. at the scene.
According to authorities, on Monday, Aug. 23, just before 9 p.m., Wilson’s brother, Mr. Michael Rutledge, 34, of Newark, was shot dead near Spruce Street and Martin Luther King Blvd.
At this time, no arrests have been made.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
