Newark Police Seek Help Identifying Carjacking Suspect

Newark Police officials request the public's help in identifying the male suspect connected to a carjacking that occurred on Friday, December 24, 2021.

According to police, at approximately 4:50 p.m., a driver exited a vehicle in the 100 block of Broadway, leaving a sleeping 4-year old child in the backseat. 

Police state that a male suspect entered the vehicle and drove off, heading southbound on Broadway towards Bloomfield Avenue. 

The vehicle, a black Acura TL, was located by police on Broadway near the Bloomfield Avenue intersection. The child was located in the rear, asleep and unharmed.

Detectives investigating this incident seek the public's help quickly identifying the suspect as part of their investigation. 

He is described as wearing a black jacket, gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants. 

Police officials urge anyone with information on the identity of any of this suspect to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
