Newark School officials have announced that all city schools will return to remote learning on Monday.
The following is a message from Newark Public Schools Superintendent Roger Leon:
“Good evening, this is Superintendent Leon with a very important announcement.
In consultation with the Newark Health department a number of important factors during these last weeks in recent days, including spikes and surges and COVID-19 positive numbers, have resulted in the decision to implement remote instruction beginning on January 3 and continuing through January 14.
I anticipate the return to in-person instruction on Tuesday, January 18.
I know that this decision impacts every family and may inconvenience everyone.
Please assist us by completing the consent forms for your child to be vaccinated and to receive weekly COVID-19 testing in school if you have not already done so.
I did not want this to be how 2021 ended. The health and safety of our students and staff remains the top priority. Wear a mask, wash your hands, keep social distance. Thank you and have a good evening."
