On February 23, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Palisades Park Police Department arrested George R. Cabadiana, 36, after learning that he engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with a 13-year-old female acquaintance.
The victim was approximately seven years old when the inappropriate sexual activity occurred but only recently disclosed what had taken place to her fifteen year old cousin. The victim’s cousin informed a social worker at the high school she attends who then contacted a social worker at the grammar school which the victim attends. The social worker contacted the Palisades Park Police Department who then notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. Arrangements were made for the victim to be interviewed by detectives from the Special Victims Unit and the Palisades Park Police Department at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus on February 23, 2015. During that interview, the victim provided specific details regarding what had occurred with Mr. CABADIANA. The ensuing investigation resulted in his arrest. George R. Cabadiana was charged with one (1) count each of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Bail for Cabadiana was set by the Honorable Keith A. Bachmann, J.S.C. at $300,000.00 with no ten percent option, no contact with the victim and the surrender of his passport as a condition of bail.
Cabadiana was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
