Somerset County authorities are looking into the cause of a fire that killed a child and hurt several others Friday.
The early morning blaze broke out just before 2:15 a.m. in the 100 block of Eastern Avenue.
Firefighters rushed to the address after receiving reports of a fire with trapped occupants inside 131 Eastern Avenue.
Upon arrival, crews found smoke and heavy flames throughout the two-and-a-half-story house, with several with trapped occupants.
Somerville and several neighboring fire departments stretched several lines to knock down some of the fire before making their way into the home.
As of 4:27 a.m., the deceased child was found and about three others were rushed to area hospitals for treatment.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
