Update: Wendy’s Crash Leaves Bayonne Man Critical

A 89-year-old man is in critical condition after a vehicle veered off the road, crashing through the door of a Wendy’s restaurant yesterday in Bayonne.

Police responded to the Wendy's on Lefante Way sometime before 3:30 p.m. for a report of a car crashing into the restaurant.

The unidentified man underwent surgery last night and was said to be in the Intensive Care Unit at Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health, according to a hospital. 

The driver of the car, an elderly Bayonne woman, was unharmed, according to reports. 

Police secured the scene of the crash as they investigated until shortly after 6 p.m.

No summonses or charges have been filed against driver as of this morning.
