Police in Newark are on the search for suspects responsible for a commercial robbery in the city's North Ward on Thursday evening.
Police say at approximately 5:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the Millenium Gas Station located on the corner of Verona and Mount Prospect avenues to investigate reports of a robbery in progress.
Upon arrival, police were told by employees that an armed male had arrived at the station and committed the robbery before fleeing the scene.
Police on the scene closed off the street then requested a crime scene unit to assist in the investigation.
The same Millenium Gas Station was recently in the news after state officials cited, then settled with the business and four other gas stations for overcharging customers for gas.
Acting Attorney General Andrew J. Bruck announced in early October that the Division of Consumer Affairs had reached a settlement agreement for more than $138,000 involving five Essex County gas stations that were found to be overcharging consumers, including by selling regular fuel as premium.
There were no physical injuries reported.
