Middlesex County authorities announced today that a juvenile has been arrested and charged with a fatal stabbing of a man known to her.
Officials said Wednesday at approximately 9:50 p.m., authorities responded to a residence on Roosevelt Avenue following the report of a stabbing.
Upon their arrival, officers located Zion Barton, 18, of the Bronx, sustained a stab wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, where he was pronounced dead.
According to police, an investigation by Detective Anthony Ramos of the Carteret Police Department and Detective Sean Sullivan of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined a fifteen-year-old female stabbed the victim.
The juvenile was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
The suspect is detained pending a preliminary hearing in Superior Court.
At present, officials said the murder does not appear to be a random act and the juvenile and victim were acquainted.
The investigation is active and continuing.
