NJ State Police officials are looking into a pedestrian strike that killed a Passaic County man early Monday morning.
State Police said the accident was reported at 4:24 a.m. north at milepost 151 in Bloomfield.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a Honda Accord was traveling on the right shoulder when it struck a 29-year-old man from Garfield who was walking on the shoulder of the highway.
Officials said the unidentified man sustained fatal injuries.
The ID is pending next of kin notification.
According to reports, the driver of the Honda, Mr. Louis Santiago, 25, a Newark Police Department employee and Bloomfield resident, did not sustain any injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
