The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the death of Mouctar Toure 17, from East Orange who was fatally shot at a Halloween party in Newark.
According to authorities, yesterday, Sunday, Oct. 31, at approximately 11:47 p.m. Toure was at a large Halloween Party in an apartment building on 4th Avenue in Newark when there was a report of shots fired.
Authorities say police were dispatched to the area where they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound.
Later identified as Toure, the victim was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:06 a.m. today, Monday, Nov. 1, officials say.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
No arrests have been made.
