An unidentified pedestrian suffered severe injuries after a car struck them in Irvington Township Saturday morning.
Police said just before 10 a.m., officers responded to reports of an injured person near the intersection of Springfield and Clinton avenues.
Upon arrival, police found the victim suffering a severe head injury at that location.
According to police, EMS transported the victim to University Hospital in critical but stable condition.
Witnesses told police that the 58-year-old Springfield driver was heading eastbound when he sped through the red light and struck the victim at a high rate of speed.
Irvington Police will lead the investigation at this time.
