Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is investigating a serious collision in Kearny in which a 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries early Tuesday morning.
According to Prosecutor Suarez, members of the Kearny Police Department responded to the area of Route 7 and the Harrison Avenue split at approximately 4:08 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, on reports of a vehicle that crashed into a disabled tractor-trailer.
Prosecutor Suarez said that all four occupants of the car were transported to University Hospital in Newark. The 21-year-old driver, a Garfield man, and a second rear passenger, a 20-year-old male, are listed in stable condition.
According to the initial investigation, the driver – who was traveling west on Route 7 in a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer – collided with a tractor-trailer that was disabled on the side of the road.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and Kearny Police Department are actively investigating this incident.
