The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is on the scene where a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in Newark's Central Ward on Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 3:20 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the vicinity of 371 Central Avenue to investigate reports of an injured person.
Upon arrival, police found a severely injured male bleeding from his nose and suffering a massive head injury after a vehicle struck him while riding his bike.
The unidentified male was rushed to University Hospital and was last reported to be in life-threatening condition.
Newark Police referred all information to The Essex County Prosecutor's Office who are now leading the investigation.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene, according to reports.
