A homicide that took place in Elizabeth yesterday is under investigation, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca jointly announced Monday.
The deceased victim has been identified as Yonatan Alexander Vasquez-Torres, 21, of Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Police Department patrol units responded to the 300 block of Center Street shortly before 3:00 a.m. Sunday, in response to a report of an injured male and found Vasquez-Torres at that location, having sustained a fatal stab wound, according to the preliminary investigation.
The investigation into the stabbing is being led by the Union County Homicide Task Force and assisted by members of the Elizabeth Police Department and Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.
