Passaic County authorities reported the arrests of Mr. Davon Burton, 26, and Ms. Demetries Page, both of Paterson.
Officials said Mr. Burton and Ms. Page were arrested Wednesday after an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
Mr. Burton is charged with one count of second-degree Aggravated Assault, one count of third-degree Aggravated Assault, one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, one count of third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and one count of fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Officials said Ms. Page is charged with one count of second-degree Aggravated Assault, one count of third-degree Aggravated Assault, one count of second degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, in one count of third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and one count of fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Officials said on September 16, 2021, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit with concerns for a seven-year-old child.
Prosecutor’s Office detectives were able to interview multiple witnesses, including the seven-year-old child.
The child reported to Prosecutor’s Office detectives that Mr. Burton and Ms. Page physically assaulted him on several occasions between September 2020 and September 2021 at their residence in the City of Paterson.
The investigation remains active.
