Police in East Orange swiftly captured two suspects who shot a male in a section of the city Tuesday afternoon.
According to East Orange Police officials, while walking in the 300 block of Park Avenue, two men in a vehicle approached the victim and fired a round, hitting him in the lower leg around 3:20 p.m.
Police said the unidentified EMS arrived and transported the victim to University Hospital, where doctors treated non-fatal injuries.
East Orange Police said after fleeing the scene, suspects, Mr. Trevor Banton, 18 of East Orange, and Mr. Fazion Booker, 20 of Newark, were arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault, weapons offenses and eluding police.
The suspects were transferred to the Essex County Jail for further processing.
Continued stepped up East Orange Police patrols around the city contributed to the fast apprehension of the suspects.
The investigation is ongoing.
