#PoliceinNewark are on the search for a set of thieves that targeted a West Ward business, stealing the ATM machine early this morning.
Calls reportedly made in to authorities by a passing EMT of a truck slamming into a gym located in the 500 block of Irvington Ave. at around 3:45 a.m. had police looking for a white Ford F-250 accompanied by a dark green Jeep Cherokee that took several minutes to swipe the ATM machine from the business.
The mini mall that sits just at the border of South Orange near and is in close proximity to Irvington and Maplewood, has about 8 stores in which all were closed except the Dunkin Donuts upon our arrival at 5:30 a.m.
The targeted business is about 100 yards from a recently built Newark Police precinct (Not sure if active) with the "Manor Drive" housing projects towering over. This is the third ATM theft in the city in less than a month, and during poor overnight weather conditions.
There are no reports of apprehensions at this time.
