A brazen late night armed robbery of a Chinese store located in the 1400 block of Liberty Street in Hillside has police on the search for two black males who reportedly pointed weapons at store employees, taking all of the cash out of the register.
The suspects were only described as wearing all blue jeans and hoodies, pulled off the robbery at around 10 pm Friday night. A customer inside the store reportedly suffered minor injuries briefly after the robbery when the pair physically assaulted.
Police thoroughly searched the area and are continuing to investigate.
Authorities in Maplewood are investigating an armed robbery of a restaurant that occurred in the 1800 block of Springfield Ave. late last night.
The suspects were described as two black males wearing dark clothing and knitted hats, reportedly entered the establishment at around 9:45 p.m. where they pointed weapons at an employee, taking an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects then fled onto Prospect Street.
There were no reported injuries in the Maplewood armed robbery.
It is not clear if the two robberies are connected at this time.
