Police searched a section of Toms River for a crime scene after a gunshot victim was located early Tuesday morning.
According to preliminary reports, a female victim was transported to Jersey City Medical center for treatment of a gunshot wound after officers located her on Warner Way.
Officers canvassed the area of additional victims, but the search came back negative.
According to Toms River Police, the woman was struck by gunfire in the area of Massachusetts Avenue at Cross Street, but it's not clear how the woman made her way to Warner Way.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation by Lakewood Police.
No arrests have been reported at this time.
