Middlesex County law enforcement officials reported Sunday that Mr. Josue Jeronimo of Perth Amboy has been arrested and charged with second-degree Aggravated Assault, third-degree Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a weapon for an incident that occurred Saturday night.
Officials said Perth Amboy police officers responded to 375 New Street at approximately 9:00 p.m. and found the victim, a 31-year-old Perth Amboy man, stabbed in his throat.
According to Middlesex County officials, an investigation by detectives from the Perth Amboy Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that the victim and Jeronimo got into a fight during which Jeronimo slashed the victim’s throat with a bottle.
EMS rushed the victim to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment, where he remains in critical condition.
Jeronimo is held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick pending an initial court appearance.
The investigation is active and is continuing.
