Newark Police are looking into an aggravated assault incident that sent a person to the hospital early Friday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, Newark's Ironbound section police responded to reports of a person stabbed at 150 Van Buren Street around 4:25 a.m.
Officers arrived and found an unidentified person suffering stab injuries in their legs at that location.
Police say the victim was also beaten with a blunt force object as well.
EMS transported the injured to the hospital for treatment while officers looked into the incident believed to be domestic in nature.
A male suspect was taken in custody at 10 Merchant Street then treated for a non-life-threatening stab injury on his hand.
The motive for the attack remains under investigation.
