Passaic County officials announce that at approximately 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 15, police responded to the area of 249 Straight Street, near the intersection of Park Avenue, in Paterson, in response to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
According to county officials, Roy Patterson, 24, of Hackensack, was operating a 2013 Honda Accord when he struck Susie Maluya, 56, of Paterson, who was crossing the street.
County officials said that Ms. Maluya was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where she was then pronounced deceased. Mr. Patterson remained on the scene and presented a valid driver’s license.
No other vehicles were involved in this collision.
No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
