An armed man who reportedly fired a shot in a Newark neighborhood prompted a heavy police presence this afternoon.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., police and SWAT surrounded a home in the 400 block of South 14th Street after receiving reports of a domestic incident that resulted in shots fired.
Police believe that the male barricaded himself in the residence and refused to come out.
After about an hour, police made their way into the home for a search, but there were no reports of arrests.
Authorities said the suspect is known to the victim.
The motive for the incident is under investigation.
