A Passaic high school employee has been diagnosed with Hepatitis A, according to officials.
Passaic School Superintendent Pablo Muñoz informed school employees in a letter of the diagnose and said, “The school district immediately notified local health officials about the diagnosis and is currently following every recommendation of these health care professionals.”
Munoz also asked employees to contact the district's health services coordinator if anyone ate food from the Passaic High School Teachers' Cafeteria between Jan. 15 and Jan. 30.
According to superintendent of schools, the unidentified employee was diagnosed by their own doctor.
Symptoms of Hepatitis can include fatigue, fever lack of appetite, dark urine or yellow discoloration of skin or eyes and vomiting, according to the district's letter.
School officials ask that anyone experiencing symptoms or has questions should contact their health care provider or City Health Officer John Biegel at (973) 365-5603.
