The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office was alerted of a shooting incident that injured a male in a section of Trenton Monday morning.
According to Trenton Police, residents on Fountain Avenue dialed 911 after hearing gunfire in the neighborhood shortly before 3:50 a.m.
Upon arrival, dispatched officers arrived and found a heavily bleeding male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at that location.
Police say EMS rushed the unidentified male to the regional medical center for treatment while detectives canvassed the area for evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
There were no arrests immediately reported and the investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing.
