Police arrested a North Carolina man accused of attacking two separate women on Wright Avenue, Friday night in Jersey City, according to police reports.
Syron B. Stone, of North Carolina, fit the description of the suspect the women provided police on Friday. Stone was found in possession of a folding knife with a 5-inch blade at the time of his arrest, police said.
Stone, who was arrested Saturday around 2:30 a.m. in the area of where the incidents occurred, was charged with possessing a weapon for unlawful purposes but has not been charged with committing the attacks, police said.
Friday at approximately 8:18 p.m., the first victim was approached and punched by a man wearing a ski mask, according to police reports.
At approximately 10:16 p.m., a 42-year-old woman was walking home with her 9-year-old daughter when an unknown man approached them and cut the woman's face several times, according to reports.
Incident remains under investigation.
