EMS transported a woman to Jersey City Medical Center after gunfire rang out in a section of the city killing the victim.
In the second shooting incident where bullets connected on a total of four victims, police were dispatched to the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Grant Avenue to investigate reports of shots fired.
Officials said units arrived at the scene and found the female suffering a bullet wound in her back at that location.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed fatal injuries for the victim.
Police taped off the area where detectives searched for shell casings and other evidence in the area.
City officials said the woman was attending a vigil for a young man that was a victim of gun violence over the weekend when someone fired into the group of people at the vigil.
According to officials, the woman is Jersey City’s 13th victim of gun violence this year.
Authorities have not released information on a suspect or arrests at this time.
The motive for the attack is under investigation.
