Hackensack Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Shooting

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Willy Mann, 26, Hackensack, on charges of attempted murder and unlawful possession of a weapon. 

The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and Hackensack Police Department.

According to Prosecutor Musella, on Sunday, July 11, at approximately 10:33 p.m., the Hackensack Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call in which the caller reported shots being fired.

Prosecutor Musella said that responding officers found a 28-year-old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds in the area of 27 Newman Street. 

He was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he is being treated for his injuries.

An investigation conducted by detectives from the Hackensack Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office was initiated and revealed that Mann shot the victim multiple times and fled the scene.

According to Prosecutor Musella, on Friday, July 16, Mann was arrested and charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. 

He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
