Newark Police officials are investigating a shooting that injured a male in the city's South Ward this evening.
Police said just after 6 p.m., officials at Beth Israel Hospital contacted police when a male victim entered the emergency room suffering gunshot wounds.
Officers arrived at the hospital and were informed by the victim that a gunman fired shots at him in the 80’s block of Grumman Avenue.
Police checked the scene and found shell casings, but no other victims were found.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
