Newark Central Ward Police are looking into the motive bein a shots-fired incident that erupted in that section of the city Saturday morning.
Police said just before 2:44 a.m., a ShotSpotter device activated in the vicinity of 151 Quitman Street, sending officers to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, police said they found about a dozen shell casings, but no victims were found when they canvassed the scene.
Officers checked around the Riviera Hotel and along Clinton Avenue for additional shell casings after witnesses said the suspect was observed firing rounds in the area.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined at this time.
