North Brunswick Man Arrested for Manville Shots Fired Incident

Somerset County officials announced the arrest of Kevin Salmeron, 20, North Brunswick, in relation to gunshots fired in the area of North 6th Avenue in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 20, in Manville.  

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson stated that on Sunday, June 20, at approximately 3:26 a.m., Manville Police officers were dispatched to the area of North 6th Avenue for a report of a man with a gun.  

Prosecutor Robertson said responding Patrol Officers were further advised of ten possible gunshots reported being fired. Upon arrival, Manville Police officers canvassed the area but did not locate an active shooter.  

No injuries or property damages were reported to be sustained.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Manville Police Department conducted an investigation into the shooting. 

As a result of this investigation, Kevin Salmeron was identified as the individual involved in the shooting.  On Thursday, June 24, at approximately 2:00 p.m. Defendant Salmeron was taken into custody at his residence without incident.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that Defendant Salmeron has been charged with Attempted Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon without a Permit. Salmeron was lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a bail detention hearing in this matter.
