Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the death of Mark C. Holley, 46, of Newark. Last night at approximately 4:41 p.m. Newark Police responded to a call in the 400 block of South 16th Street of a man sick or injured. When they arrived on the scene they discovered the man in his home unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:59 p.m. The cause and manner of death will be determined following an autopsy. At this time the investigation is active and ongoing. No other information is available.
