The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office in conjunction with the Edison Police Department are actively investigating a serious hit and run motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian which occurred on Woodbridge Avenue at Plainfield Avenue in Edison.
Police said the crash occurred on Saturday, at approximately 5:26 p.m.
Authorities believe the pedestrian, a 64-year-old female from Edison was struck while crossing Woodbridge Avenue by a late model Mazda SUV, possibly a CX30 or CX5.
According to police, the vehicle left the scene of the accident heading eastbound on Woodbridge Avenue at a high rate of speed without stopping.
The victim sustained head and body injuries and is currently in stable condition in I.C.U. at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick.
Family notification is still pending at this time. Police are asking that anyone who may have been in the area of Woodbridge Avenue and Plainfield Avenue at around the time of the accident or may have seen the hit and run vehicle leaving the area, or any information pertaining to the accident, to please contact the Edison
