Police in Newark are determining if shots fired incidents that occurred overnight in South Ward neighborhoods are connected.
In the initial investigation, police say at approximately 9:55 p.m, police responded to reports of shots fired near 120 Hobson Street and arrived to find shell casings but no victims.
Police said shortly after midnight, gunfire rang out in the 30's block of Johnson Avenue, sending officers to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, police found shell casings, but a search of the area indicated no victims. According to police, officers also found shell casings near 103 Hillside Avenue, but no injuries were reported.
Earlier in the afternoon, gunfire rang out in the area of Seymour and Custer avenues around 3:30 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found shell casings, but no victims were located when officers searched the scene.
The motives for all of the shootings have not been determined and no arrests were reported.
