Hillside Police are looking into the official cause of a fire that killed a man in the township Monday afternoon. Police said at approximately 3:57 pm, officers responded to a call of a fire in the area of Warwick Road.
When units arrived, officers found a 56-year-old male suffering severe burns on over 75 percent entire body.
Police said It appears the man used an unknown accelerant to light a fire pit and an explosion occurred.
According to police was transported to an area hospital and unfortunately died of his wounds.
There were no other injuries reported.
