The Madison Police Department is pleased to announce the revival of the Borough’s long-standing Neighborhood Watch program.
Even though Madison is a very safe community, recent residential burglaries, frauds and motor vehicle thefts in the area have proven that we are not immune to crime, police said.
Madison’s new Neighborhood Watch will be a neighborhood-centric program which will emphasize strong relationships with neighbors and an open line of communication with the Police Department. Chief Darren Dachisen Sr. said that in order to be effective, the police need community involvement.
The Neighborhood Watch program will be the eyes and ears of this community that will assist us with our mission of keeping Madison safe."
Interested residents are encouraged to serve as Neighborhood Watch Captains who will then receive training at the Police Department. Training will include:
• Home & Family Safety • Personal Safety • Terrorism Awareness • How to Report Suspicious Activity • How to Address Local Community / Neighborhood Concerns
After Neighborhood Watch captains have been trained they will be expected to gather contact information from neighbors and facilitate communication between the Police Department and their neighborhood. Further, neighborhoods will be expected to meet annually with their police department coordinator by hosting a block party.
