Middlesex County authorities announced murder charges against two individuals who they say killed a man In North Brunswick.
Officials said yesterday Mr. Demond Gray, 43, of New Brunswick and Mr. Katura Williams, 40, of Sayreville were charged and served with complaints about one count of first-degree murder committed during the course of a robbery, one count of first-degree robbery, and one count of second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery.
According to police, on March 21, 2021, Gray was charged with murder and Williams was charged with obstruction and hindering Gray’s apprehension.
However, an ongoing investigation by Detective Keri Shutz of the North Brunswick Police Department and Detective Mark Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office led to the issuance of additional complaints.
Police say on March 20, 2021, at noon, officers from the North Brunswick Police Department responded to the Farrington Inn following an emergency call for an unresponsive male.
Upon their arrival, authorities located Mr. Abdul Conteh, 60, of Somerset, who showed signs of physical injury. Conteh was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation revealed Gray had assaulted and killed Conteh in the hotel room during the course of a strong-arm robbery undertaken with Williams.
Gray and Williams are separately lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, where they are held pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court.
