Police reported no injuries in an incident where a special tactical police presence attempted to get a potentially armed and dangerous man to surrender from a house in Newark on Sunday afternoon.
The critical incident unfolded in the 40's block of Norwood around 2:30 p.m.
Police say they were called to the scene to investigate when a woman called police and told them that a male suspect produced an assault rifle then ran inside the 3-story multi-family house.
Newark's Special Weapons and Tactical unit arrived at the scene and assisted in getting the suspect to surrender around 3:50 p.m peacefully.
The suspect was taken into custody as police searched the residence and investigated what prompted the incident.
There were no injuries reported.
