The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are making their way to the scene of an officer-involved shooting that took place this afternoon in Newark’s North Ward.
It happened around 4:50 p.m. in the teens block of Elliot Street.
A preliminary investigation indicated an off-duty police officer fired his weapons at a suspect for an unknown reason.
EMS transported the officer to University Hospital, where it appears the cop was evaluated.
Police have the area sealed and there is a weapon confiscated and a suspect in custody at this time.
